Introduction to Local Government

Face to Face

The Introduction to Local Government workshop provides an overview to local government and the important role it plays.

Developed for LG Pro Tas by LG Pro Vic for Tasmanian council officers, the program is designed for people who are new to local government or those who wish to improve their knowledge of Council governance.

The program is delivered by former council Chief Executive Officers who understand the sector and the complexities faced by people working in it.

This program is a face to face 5 and a half hour session that covers:

  • Legal structure of local government.
  • Roles and functions.
  • Decision-making processes.
  • Relationships & ethical behaviour in local government.
  • Case studies that demonstrate common issues that officers may be required to navigate.

Members have requested we run a face to face program.
