Dear Members,

As you may know, I recently became the president of the Cradle Coast LG Professional Branch. I’m thrilled to have been given this opportunity and can’t wait to work alongside all of you in the coming year. Our new vice president is Stacey Connelly, also from Central Coast Council. Together, we have some exciting plans for our network.

Before we dive into the future, I want first to express our sincere appreciation for Tracey Bradley, our outgoing president. Tracey has been an incredible leader and a source of inspiration for many of us. We are grateful for her service and contributions to our branch as she steps down to enjoy her well-deserved retirement.

As we move forward, we want to continue to focus on building a strong community within our network. We look forward to providing more opportunities for professional development, training, and networking for our Cradle Coast members. We welcome any suggestions from members on how we can add value to our membership.

To kick off our upcoming events, we invite you to join us for a networking event on Thursday 7th December. The event, hosted by the Central Coast Council, will commence at 3.30 pm at the Pier in Ulverstone. The event will be a great way to finish the year and connect with fellow professionals. Calendar invites will be sent out shortly.

Central Coast Council’s new General Manager, Barry Omundson, will share some of Central Coast Council’s cultural development journey, providing valuable insights for attendees. We also have a special guest speaker lined up, Bruce Sullivan, who is a much-valued business partner of Central Coast Council. Bruce is known for his high energy and entertaining talks, and he will share his expertise on “how to be your best you”. To learn more about Bruce and his work, please visit his website https://brucesullivan.com.au/.

The ability to provide networking events and professional development opportunities depends on a strong membership base. LG Professional offers a professional development pathway for people working at all levels of Local Government. This includes people who are brand new to the sector through to General Managers. We encourage you to bring a non-member from your Council to this next event to introduce them to the LG Professionals network.

Our special interest groups have been thriving, and we plan to expand our branch events to focus on networking with peers, sharing projects of local significance, and sharing stories to support one another in our professional journeys to enhance our leadership skills.

In conclusion, we are excited about the future of our branch and are grateful for your ongoing support. We hope you can join us on the 7th of December and look forward to seeing you all soon.

Regards
Sam Searle
Branch President
