Founded in 1936, Local Government Professionals Tasmania is the leading professional association
representing managers and aspiring managers working in the local government sector across the
state.
Over the past year, the LG Pro board has been working to raise the profile of the industry and to ensure strong representation for all participants in the sector. The organisation’s CEO, Jan Davis, has led the way in this new direction.
However, after being elected to the Northern Midlands Council last year, Ms Davis is now stepping aside to concentrate on her elected role.
Gary Arnold, the association’s President, today recognised Jan’s contribution and wished her well in her council endeavours.
He announced that Mary Frost has been appointed as the organisation’s new EO. Ms Frost has a long history of involvement in the not-for-profit sector in Tasmania, and is skilled in developing strong stakeholder relations.
“I am absolutely delighted by Mary’s appointment. She has a wealth of experience and the knowledge to get the job we want done,” Mr Arnold said.
Ms Frost said “I am honoured to be afforded the opportunity to work with the Board, members and other stakeholders to realise the vision that has been developed during the past year.”
“Local government plays a key role in the economic and social well-being of Tasmania, and the role of professional officers is key in ensuring strong links with local communities,” she said.
“As a representative group, Local Government Professionals offers a network of support for people working in councils. It is a forum where officers can share ideas and offer guidance. Most importantly, the association can act as a voice for those who work in the local government sector.”
“I look forward to working with all of our stakeholders to promote the work of these dedicated council officers.”
