The Local Government Professionals (Tas) Annual Conference, It Starts With Us is taking place at the paranaple convention centre this Thursday 17 and Friday 18 October.

Local government representatives from across the state will converge on Devonport for two days of connection and thought leadership as they hear from those making a positive difference in their local communities.

The annual conference is the highlight on the LG Professionals calendar. It provides an opportunity for local government members to network, access professional development opportunities and gain exposure to emerging issues and trends that are relevant to the sector.

The keynote speakers, Rod Patterson and Penny Terry will lead a comprehensive list of Tasmanian speakers presenting on economic development, customer experience, employment law, digital transformation, continuous improvement and local case studies. The program is found here.

During the CBA Gala Dinner on Thursday evening, the Regional winners of the National Federation Awards, announced earlier in the year, will be recognised in front of their peers in five categories. Emerging Leader of the Year award winner, Erica McKinnell, Community Services Project Officer from

Break O’Day Council also placed a highly commended in the National Awards.

These awards are designed to honour local governments for their efforts in making a difference in their communities. By showcasing innovative solutions that demonstrate leading practice, deliver quality services and better outcomes for communities, they have the potential to be replicated across the country.

During the dinner, members will also be recognised for their long service with the association.
